Rally: Historic win for Lim, Kamarul
NST, 1/4/2008
LIM Leong Onn and Kamarul
Anuar Mohd Razzali completed a winning weekend for the Perodua
M5 Racing in Round One of the Malaysian Rally Championship
in Bahau, Negri Sembilan yesterday.
It was a historic first ever win for
the Perodua Viva which debuted last season steered by the
veteran duo of Leong Onn and Kamarul.
They finished seven minutes ahead
of defending champions Karamjit Singh and Jagdev Singh on
board a rented Proton Satria which Karamjit claimed lacked
power and traction.
Perodua M5 Racing Team also completed
the weekend with three cars in the top five with Kan Chee
Hong-Bernard Chin and P. Nanda Kumar-Suresh Parkash Sharma
bringing home the two Perodua Myvis in third and fourth
respectively.
"This is our best result so far.
Usually we are happy to have two cars finishing but this
time all three are in the top five," said Perodua M5
Racing Team manager Gary Chua.
The team's four-wheel drive
Perodua Viva Turbo behaved perfectly in the hands of Leong
Onn and stayed five minutes clear of the strong challenge
by Karamjit.
