MIKE
HOPEFUL FOR ANOTHER VICTORY
29th May 2009
Mike Ariokiasamy Ratnam and co-driver Wayne Cheah are hoping to
repeat their Round One Malaysian Rally Championship (MRC) performance
this weekend in Kuala Perlis.
Having rebuilt the engine of his Proton Wira
which was badly damaged after the last round Mike is confident that
he will once again bag the trophies for the 2WD and P11 categories
in this weekend’s second round.
2008 overall champions Karamjit Singh and
co-driver Jagdev Singh of the GSR Pennzoil Racing Team are hoping
to regain their spot at the top after coming in ninth place overall
in the last round in Cyberjaya due to a time penalty.
“It will be very fast race and the fastest
car should win,” said Karamjit who is competing for the 4WD
and P12 category trophies as well.
Rozali Abdullah, driving for the Felda Rally
Team will be Karamjit’s main competitor driving a much faster
and lighter Proton Gen 2 which has been rebuilt based on the specs
of the latest Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9.
25 competitors will rally through
the Special Stages (tracks) inside the PPB Group’s Sugar Cane
plantations in Chuping over two days.
Day One will see the participants compete in six Special Stages
(SS) over a total distance of 79.83km. The longest Stage is 15.08km
at Air Timbul and the shortest is 11.99km at Kg. Baru. Day Two (Sunday)
the total distance is 84.78km.
