A SWEDE VICTORY FOR ANDERSON

JOHOR BAHRU - The conditions were not ideal but Per-Gunnar Anderson in a Satria Neo 2000 came through the mud and the slush to clinch the opening round of the Malaysian leg of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship yesterday.

The constant drizzle over the Tai Tak Estate yesterday made conditions tough, so tough that the organizer had to cancel one stage of the race simply because of it's poor condition but then again Anderson and co-driver Emil Axelson were in their element to complete the estimated 115 km race in the fastest time of 1hr 48mins 49.9secs. Malaysian leg of APRC to be held under floodlights for first time

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian leg of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) will be held under floodlights for the first time here from July 13-15. A specially designed 2.5km-long dirt track in the vicinity of the Plaza Angsana will form part of the special stage of the rally to be held at night. MORE>>


Johor Baru to stage night race

A specially designed 2.5km long dirt track in the vicinity of the Plaza Angsana will form part of the special stage of the rally and that's where the organisers have decided that the race will be held at night, under the glare of the floodlights.

'Midnight Rallying' the organisers call it and all 16 entries for the fourth leg of the APRC on July 13-15 have been assured that adequate safety measures and lighting are in place. MORE>>

Message from the COC

Once again, SELAMAT DATANG or welcome to all competitors, teams, media representatives and rally enthusiasts to the prestigious FIA APRC MALAYSIAN RALLY 2012 (mr12) which will be held for the eight consecutive year.

Rally has fast becoming a major spectator-sport event in Malaysia. The APRC have inspired many young and new talents to take up rallying in Malaysia.

It is our mission and goal to cultivate this spirit of rallying in the hearts and minds of our young potentials by hosting this rally event in the country. We would like to assure you a challenging and exciting event that will take place in the state of Johor.

Similar to 2011, we will be offering a short special stage adjacent to the Angsana Ceremonial Area to create more awareness towards rallying by the public. However, unlike last year, it will be held in the evening of Friday, 13th July right after the Flag-Off Ceremony at 2000hrs.

Finally, do not hesitate to contact us for further inquiries. We look forward to meeting all of you again in Johor this year and also a very special welcome to those who has never been to Malaysia before.
