The
APRC Comes to Town

The battle for this years
Malaysian round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC)
will be close, and could go to either Mitsubishi or Subaru.
The top APRC drivers will either be driving the Impreza, Evo
9, 8 or 3 in this years competition.
So far, 13 drivers have confirmed
participation for the APRC category while 17 cars are to fight
it out in the Malaysian Rally Championship Round 3.
Among the top drivers to come
and excite Malaysian rally fans are Japans Katsuhiko
Taguchi, Finnish Jarkko Mietinen, former MR5 winner Brian
Green, Indonesias Rifat Sungkar and his brother Rizal
and Subhan Aksa, current championship leader Cody Crocker,
Eli Evans, Hiroshi Yanagisawa and Fan Fan of China. They will
either be driving a Lancer Evolution series or Subarus
Impreza.
From our local turf, we will
see Karamjit Singh and Jagdev Singh in his Proton PERT Evo
3, Gunaseelan Rajoo and his brother Jayaselan, Saladin Mazlan
and Arish Kutb, and Rozali Abdullah and Hilmi Zulhassan.
Perodua M5 Racing Team is expected
to roll out its Myvi rally car, which will be driven by Kan
Chee Hong and Bernard Chin.
Proton will also be putting
up a fight with two Gen.2s this time round with Sutan Mustafa
heading the pack.
The APRC, which will be held
between Aug 18 and 20 in Kota Tinggi, Johor, should see more
local involvement this time around.
