Places of Interest, Kuantan
Kuantan, the state capital is located on the east coast
and facing the South China Sea. It is fast developing
into a modern commercial centre, yet retaining its unique
age-old charms. Now, modern high-rise structures cohabit
harmoniously with pre-war shop houses and colonial building.
A visit to Kuantan will draw you to its nature and historical
places like beaches, museum and many other thing that
can be experienced.
Kuantan
River Cruise
The Kuantan River Cruise takes visitors through the picturesque
landscape of a 500-year old mangrove forest reserve that
spreads along the Kuantan River. The first stop along
the way is a fishing village from sea. Then the cruise
will stop at swamp area and there are 250-metre wooden
walkway constructed to enable visitors to walk under the
canopy of the tropical mangrove forest. The last stop
is Medan Ferry where visitors can take a short break for
rest and refreshments. Close nearby is the remnant of
Japanese fortress built during World War II.
Hero's Museum
The Heroes Museum or Muzium Tokoh is locted at Jalan Masjid,
and was officially opened to the public in October 2000.
Housed in a majestic colonial-era building (1910) located
adjacent to the Pahang Tourism office, the museum is a
showcase of 'who is who' in Pahang nationalism, educations,
literatures, the arts, sports and religion.
Sultan
Hj Ahmad Agricultural Park
Originally established by the Department of Agriculture
in1988, the 300-hectare park serves primarily as a research
station and one of the many agriculture development
centers in the country. It is divided into fruit orchards,
arboretum, spice farms, recreational park, campsites,
an exhibition centre, research station and a forest
reservation area. A walk in the forest reserves provides
you with an excellent opportunity to be mesmerized by
the magic of the the Tropical Rain Forest.
Teluk
Chempedak Beach
Teluk Chempedak Beach is a popular destination among
the locals. Located some 5 kilometres from Kuantan,
visitors may indulge in a variety of water sports such
as windsurfing, sailing, jet skiing and swimming.
