RALLY WET AND SLIPPERY DUE TO MONSOON RAINS

“Newcomers will have to be extra careful”

Kuantan, Pahang, 1st November 2007 – The onset of the monsoon rains in Kuantan will ensure Rally fans will be treated to some exciting thrills and spills at the FELDA-AAM Malaysian Rally Championship 2007 (FAMRC) this weekend but the new, less experienced teams will have to be extra careful, say officials.

Clerk-of-course for the championship, Tengku Shaharin Abu Bakar Tengku Suleiman said the Rally course is very slippery and muddy which means this year’s competition will be much more challenging than last year’s.

“The heavy downpours over the last few days have transformed some sections of the usually dusty palm oil plantation roads into quagmires. Experienced drivers may find the roads fun and exciting, but the less-experienced drivers will have to be extra careful on the sharp corners and turns so that they are not forced to exit the race early,” said Tengku Shaharin.

New faces taking part this round are Yusof Tumin and his son, Nazri Yusof in the Ford Laser TX3, Magendran Arunasalam and Daveender Singh in the Proton Satria and Mohamad Siraj Abdullah and Palanny in the Proton Satria Neo.

Members of the public interested in seeing the teams and their cars should make their way to the official flag-off at Mahkota Square at midday on Saturday 3rd November and can also watch the teams service their cars between Stages at the course Service Park at FELDA Lepar Hilir One.
