Battle
To The Last
6th
Decemver 2007
6th December, Kangar, Perlis - The Champion
has already been decided but the battle still continues in
the FELDA-AAM Malaysian Rally Championship 2007 (FAMRC 07).
This weekend, fans at the fifth and final Round of the FAMRC
to be held in Kangar, Perlis will see four friends turn rivals
as they fight to finish on top of their respective Groups.
The four are Jamaluddin Tukimin and
Nik Ammar Mohamed who are up against each other fighting for
the Group P9 crown, and Ahmad Shafie Jalil and Sutan Mustaffa
Salihin who both want to emerge overall winner in Group P10.
Jamaluddin is currently leading Group
P9 on 49 points with Nik Ammar trailing behind him by just
one point. Ahmad Shafie and Sutan are neck and neck on 30
points each, so the ultimate goal is to finish both legs of
the rally in the best time possible. Adding to the pressure,
Sutan has his new sponsor, E-Dymium Network Sdn Bhd, to impress.
Sutan said, “I would love to win
my Group so I plan to drive to the maximum. If I can beat
Takeshi Azuma and Lim Leong Onn I could also finish second
overall in the Championship.”
Group P9 title chaser, Jamaluddin, is
facing a tough battle this weekend as he did not finish (DNF)
Round Four in Kuantan, Pahang last month due to mechanical
problems. He said he is fully prepared this time around and
promises to give a tough fight.
Meanwhile, the Perodua M5 Racing Team which has already won
the Team Category is looking forward to a more rewarding Round
5. In the previous round only one of three Perodua’s
finished.
Perodua M5 Racing Team manager Gary
Chua, said his team has identified the problem that was bugging
the new Perodua Viva driven by Lim Leong Onn.
“We found out that the cooling
system did not get enough air to flow through the radiator.
We have rectified the problem and hope the Viva will perform
better this weekend in Perlis,” he said.
Gary added that he is happy that the
two co-drivers, Bernard Chin and Suresh Parkash Sharma are
back with the team. Both were absent in Round 4 because of
work commitments. Bernard is Kan Chee Hong’s co-driver
while Suresh is co-driver to P. Nanthakumar.
As for the FAMRC 07 Champion, Karamjit
Singh who is leading the championship with 48 points, his
outing this weekend is to show his support to the event organizer,
Wheel Sport Management Sdn Bhd as well as to fulfill his commitment
to his sponsors. The Flying Sikh was crowned Champion in Round
4 in Kuantan last month and he is leading Group P12.
Fans can catch the rally action at FELDA
Chuping, Perlis this Saturday and Sunday. More than 27 cars
will compete. The competitors will be covering a total of
more than 155.67km in Super Stages (SS). Special Stage One
(SS3), Weigh Bridge 1, is the longest stage at 19.71km while
the shortest is SS4 Kolam Tengah at only 8.40km. Both Leg
One and Two comprise four Special Stages.
Participants will be officially flagged-off
at 12 noon on Saturday 8th December and the prizes will be
awarded to the various champions on Sunday 9th December. Both
ceremonies will take place at Kayangan Square, Kangar. The
FELDA AAM Malaysian Rally Championship 2007 is sponsored by
