PENNZOIL PARTNERS GSR MOTORSPORT IN RALLY

UMW Pennzoil Distributors, the marketer of Pennzoil products in Malaysia, will partner GSR Motorsports in the Malaysian Rally Championship, including next week's Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

Having been involved itself in rallies for about two years now, the company has decided to achieve honours and have decided to go with GSR Motorsports' Gunaseelan Rajoo and navigator, Jayaselan Rajoo, for the remaining races this year. Gunaseelan, who will be driving a Proton Gen 2 2WD, will be competing in Class P11 in next week's APRC to be held in Johor. He currently leads the championship standings in P11.

Described as an ideal partnership, each of the two have achieved success in their own right. Pennzoil is a premium brand in passenger car motor oil, catering for all categories of passenger cars and especially for cars subjected to extreme conditions, such as racing and rally cars, while GSR Motorsport, with Gunaseelan, have achieved numerous honours in the rallying scene.

Gunaseelan, the former Malaysian Rally Champion and three-time Silverstone Tarmac Rally Champion, has been rallying since he was 21.

Pennzoil also offers a wide range of high quality lubricants suits all kinds of engines, old and new. In addition, the company provides a wide selection of transmission fluids and gearbox oils for use in almost any automotive and industrial application.

UMW Pennzoil Distributors Sdn Bhd Marketing Manager Shamsul Nahar described the partnership as a platform to associate itself with motorsports activities in the country, and also quoted the General Manager, Encik Mohd Ruslan Abdul Ghani that Pennzoil would like to support a national program (ie. APRC) that will contribute towards Visit Malaysia Year 07.

"Our motor oil have been tried and tested under extreme conditions and are ideal for rallies. We believe this partnership will benefit both us and GSR Motorsport in their quest to achieve top honours, if not victories," he added.

Gunaseelan thanked Pennzoil for their support, "We have been testing the motor oil in several tests and the engine has felt more powerful. Thus, under the backing of Pennzoil, I am looking forward to the rally," he said.He has raced for USPD, which later became Proton Edar, and Proton.
